Pipe Specifications & Sourcing Guidance

Welcome to the technical reference page for Elroye Pipes & Fittings. We are a dedicated Indian stockist, trader, and supplier of industrial pipework and structural tubing sourced directly from certified, top-tier mills. All products comply with standard Indian and international benchmarks (IS, BS, ASTM). Use the specifications and recommendations below to identify the ideal materials for your projects.

Galvanized Iron (GI) Pipes — Sourced to IS 1239 (Part 1) / BS 1387

We supply hot-dip galvanized steel pipes with uniform zinc coatings (minimum 360–400 g/m²) engineered for dependable corrosion protection in plumbing, fire-fighting systems, and industrial fluid transport.

  • Supplied Lengths: Standard 6.0-meter lengths; cut lengths and bundle quantities available upon request.

  • End Finishes: Threaded (BSPT / NPT with heavy-duty end protectors) or plain/bevelled ends for mechanical grooved couplings and welding.

GI Malleable Iron Fittings — IS 1879 / BS EN 10242

Sourced from accredited foundries to ensure thread accuracy, pressure integrity, and full interchangeability with Class B and Class C lines.

  • Available Fittings: 90° & 45° Elbows, Equal/Reducing Tees, Hex Nipples, Unions, Crosses, Bushes, Sockets, and End Plugs.

  • Testing & Certification: Tested for working pressures up to 20 bar; Mill Test Certificates (MTC) supplied with consignments upon request.

  • Coating: Hot-dip galvanized for seamless resistance against galvanic oxidation at the joints.

Square Hollow Sections (SHS) — Sourced to IS 4923 / ASTM A500

High-strength, cold-formed ERW structural square tubing procured from primary producers for commercial fabrication and architectural frameworks.

Site Handling & Application Advice

  • Joint Integrity: Pair male threads with PTFE sealant tape or appropriate thread compound applied clockwise. Avoid excessive torque to preserve internal fitting threads.

  • Galvanic Isolation: Always insert dielectric fittings or insulating flanges when connecting GI pipework to non-ferrous metals (such as copper or brass) to eliminate electrochemical corrosion.

  • Hanger Intervals:

    • 15 mm – 25 mm NB: Support every 1.8 to 2.0 meters.

    • 32 mm – 50 mm NB: Support every 2.4 to 2.7 meters.

    • 65 mm NB and above: Support every 3.0 to 3.6 meters.

  • Material Preservation: Keep pipe bundles elevated on level timber dunnage in covered, well-ventilated storage to protect fresh zinc surfaces against moisture traps and white rust.
